Would you shoplift with friends?
I just turned 19 in a two year college as a transfer student just choose my major(history) and will be transfering to a 4 yr school within the year.I am pretty shy person not really outgoing so i still hang out with the same group i did in highschool.My problem is my group of friends and i apparently have different mind sets.We used to shoplift small things like makeup at a CVS ect. for a thrill.But it then became stealing shoes or clothing at kholes or another department store.Now they buy a few things at the mall stores and shoplift everything else from the same mall stores.I dont feel right about this anymore.My parents pay my college tuition but are cutting down on my allowance and i dont make much money working so in a way i feel tempted but feel its wrong.What do i do?I dont want to blow them off and not go shopping this week?
I would quit hanging out with them immediately. Or else, just don't go anywhere that they could possibly steal anything. I went shopping with a "friend" & we were trying stuff on, but in the same dressing room. She kept saying "Oh, I'm getting this top." & then she'd ask me if I wanted anything, but then I realized she wasn't going to buy them, she was going to steal them. I told her that I didn't want any of them & tried to tell her that she was going to get caught. She tried to reassure me by telling me that she had an idea. So I didn't really care but I wasn't going to steal anything & I wasn't going to have her steal anything FOR me. She ended up getting caught, but since I was with her I also got in trouble. We got arrested, we were taken to JIAC, & I had to take a class just in case the store decided to charge me with something. She had to do nothing, but I hated her for it because it caused me so many problems & I wasn't even doing anything wrong. In fact, I tried to stop her. I haven't talked to her since & she's still scared of me because I was so furious with her. Since you're over 18, you would be taken straight to jail & it would be on your record forever.

Why when I go to stores the people watch me like they think I'm going to shoplift?
I can't go anywhere in the mall or grocery store without a security guard or employee watching me like I'm a criminal.I know some people shop lift but sometimes I wonder if its just because I'm dark skined.I don't want to live with a chip on my shoulder but I'm tired of it.I feel like I'm treated like a second rate person because I'm latino.Does anyone else feel this way ? I'm sorry but the whites would'nt understand because it doesn't happen to you.
Well..unfortunately society today still separates the races and believes one is better than the other. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I was born in Greece so I'm darker skinned than most people here so I get it sometimes too...I understand where you're coming from. It doesn't make you second rate.
