What type of oil is best for my Yamaha R6S (600cc) bike?

I was thinking of taking my ride to the track and seeing what I can do with it. I have a 2008 R6S (600cc) bike and I went to the dealership the other day and bought some oil from them. They told me that the 20W50 yamalube (the gold bottle) would be okay for my bike. So i changed the oil and out in 20W50 and the bike seems to run fine... although, ppl keep telling me that they wouldn't dare put 20W50 in there bike and the are riding like Victory's (standard bikes with bigger motors). On the other hand, the sales guy who runs the shop said, he wouldn't steer me wrong and he's been doing this for 14 years. I'm confused, I'm thinking that I need a lighter weight of oil. Winter is coming up and I have a garage to park the bike. Should I change the oil? Any advice from you gifted gurus out there?? Oh and is Amsoil better than Yamalube, I'm thinking of switching over to Amsoil?

Im not an expert, but I really don't think the brand matters all that much.. I'd just go with the yamalube, Of course fully synthetic oil is always going to be a tad better, I just use half synthetic. In the summer you use the 10/20w50 oils, and winter the 20w30. Its going to be pretty hard to get oils so wrong that you see a loss in performance or longevity to your motor...

Best Weight of Motorcycle Oil For Really Hot Temperature In The Summer? Phoenix, Arizona.?

I have a 2004 Yamaha R6. Bought it a few months ago and the previous seller had it done at a dealer so he has no idea what oil was in it before rather than knowing it was fully synthetic. It's about 90 degrees during the days now and it usually stays at around 110 for like 4 months lol. I like it. But anyway, getting my bike ready for it's first summer. Having it be hot, what's a good oil to use. I'm debating whether to go with Yamalube full synthetic or Amsoil full synthetic. But I'll decide soon. But from a good friend of mine, he had a gsx-r and when he used a light 10W-40, his valves and clutch became louder so I wanna keep mine quiet and I hear a thicker oil will be better and help prevent that.

So I'm thinking fully synthetic 10W-50? Especially for a really hot summer and I am going to be doing a lot of riding - especially freeway. Taking it on a 5 hour trip to Vegas in about a month.

In that kind of heat I'd personally use 20W-50. I do here in Arkansas during the hot summer months.
