URL Shortening

URL Shortening

$79.66

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles URL shortening is a technique on the World Wide Web where a provider makes a web page available under a very short URL in addition to the original address. For example, the page http: //en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=TinyURLdiff=283621022oldid=283308287 can be shortened to http: //tinyurl.com/mmw6lb. Currently, web developers tend to pass descriptive attributes in the URL to represent data hierarchies, command structures, transaction paths and session information. This may result in a URL that is aesthetically unpleasant and difficult to remember. Copying a URL that is hundreds of characters long can make the URL garbled. Thus a short URL is more useful to copy from an email message or forum pos Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. URL Normalization

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles URL normalization (or URL canonicalization) is the process by which URLs are modified and standardized in a consistent manner. The goal of the normalization process is to transform a URL into a normalized or canonical URL so it is possible to determine if two syntactically different URLs are equivalent. Search engines employ URL normalization in order to assign importance to web pages and to reduce indexing of duplicate pages. Web crawlers perform URL normalization in order to avoid crawling the same resource more than once. Web browsers may perform normalization to determine if a link has been visited or to determine if a page has been cached. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles URL With Phred was the spinoff series of The Phred on Your Head Show that aired on Noggin from February 2, 1999 until April 1, 2002. One of the notable differences in detail is that Heads dot (in Noggin.com) was cut out pictures and the outside of the dot was colorful. In URL, Phreds dot looks handdrawn and the outside of the dot is mostly blue. Phred would lead Doug with a certain introduction (i.e. Phred reading his cue cards and stopping between certain points because a fly was on the card. A complete 30minute episode of Doug would play. URL Subscription Architecture

URL Subscription Architecture

$79.66

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The URL Subscription Architecture (URLSA) is an open system for subscribing to frequently updated digital content on the web, such as blogs, news stories, and private conversations. It was designed as an alternative to RSS that supports social subscribing, private subscriptions, and rich content. URLSA users can subscribe themselves and other users to the URL of some content and, once subscribed, are notified when the content at that URL is updated. Users typically maintain a list of subscriptions to everything from news stories to conversations. The architecture allows users to generate private content, such as a conversation or a photo album, on the fly and subscribe other users to it. The fact that URLSA is a contentless architecture, that users subscribe to the URL of the content rather than the content itself, means that virtually any type of content that is addressable by a URL can be made subscribable. Content Distribution Networks (CDNs) are a rapidly growing service on the Internet. CDNs distribute and colocate content to be geographically close to the users (of the content). This content mirroring 1) reduces the load on the origin server, 2) reduces traffic on the Internet, and 3) improves response time to the users. For CDNs to be feasible, methods of routing of HTTP requests originating from users are needed. URL routers need routing tables similar to IP routing tables in IP routers. However, the methods used for IP routing cannot scale to URL routing. In URL routing the number of destination addresses (URLs) greatly exceeds the number of IP addresses. In addition, URLs are not stable new ones are constantly created and old ones disappear. The large size of URLs, their very large number, and their dynamic nature makes URL routing a difficult problem. This is the problem that is addressed in this book. When We Were Kings Part1

Url Rewriting in Asp.net With Sample Project

URL rewriting is the process of intercepting an incoming Web request and automatically redirecting it to a different URL.

To understand completely follow below link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms972974.aspx

In this article I am going make a simple example which will take only few minutes and you will learn how to achieve URL Rewriting.

I believe developer doesn’t have much time to read a complete article of 20 pages.

Here we go

Step 1
Create a table
(
POSTID INT,
TITLE VARCHAR(255),
BODY TEXT
)

CREATE TABLE TESTTABLE

Insert some dummy values

INSERT INTO TESTTABLE (POSTID,TITLE,BODY) VALUES (1,‘ACCORDIAN CONTROL WITH SQL SERVER’,
‘ACCORDIAN CONTROL WITH SQL SERVER CONNECTIVITY JOGGEE
MADE A ARTICLE AND THAT IS THE BEST I THINK SO.’)
GO
INSERT INTO TESTTABLE (POSTID,TITLE,BODY) VALUES (2,‘Mouse over effect’,
‘This is so simple and can found thousand places but I tried to make it more easier who
doesnt know the different between or anchor.’)
GO
?
SELECT * FROM TESTTABLE

STEP - 2
Create a stored procedure
Create PROCEDURE PROC_TEST
AS
BEGIN
SELECT
‘’ + TITLE + ‘’ AS ‘TITLE’,
BODY
FROM TESTTABLE
END

GO

Procedure for Detail Page.
CREATE PROCEDURE PROC_TESTDETAIL
@ID INT
AS
BEGIN
SELECT
POSTID,
TITLE,
BODY
FROM TESTTABLE
WHERE POSTID = @ID
END
GO

Database work is finished, let move to ASP.NET project means Website Programming.
Create a Website, Ajax Enabled or not its up to you, No matter what you choose.

In a default webpage write below code. I am pasting the complete code for Default page. where i am using DataList direct binding with two field.

In a Code Behind Past below code.

Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.SqlClientPartial Class _Default
Inherits System.Web.UI.PageProtected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me

If IsPostBack = False Then
Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection
Dim sqlCmd As New SqlCommand(“PROC_TEST”, sqlConn)
Dim objDA As New SqlDataAdapter
Dim DT As New DataTable
‘******************************************************************************************************
‘I have mentioned this connection string in the web.config Change it with appropriate values.

‘****************************************************************************************************************
sqlConn.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings(“connString”).ConnectionString
‘opening a connection
sqlConn.Open()
sqlCmd.Connection = sqlConn
sqlCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
objDA.SelectCommand = sqlCmd
‘populate data table
