i had my cerclage in at 14 weeks and am proudly at 35 weeks now! i am scheduled to get my stitch out at 37 weeks and my doctor said there has been numerous amounts of time where the second he took that stitch out, she dialated about 3 or 4 centi. he also said that i should have all my hospital bags ready when i come in that day. what should i pack in my hospital bag for myself besides stuff like toothbrush and bath stuff? what is the amount of time you (or someone u know) went into labor after having that takin out?

As an emergency room physician, Dr. Travis Stork regularly sees the effects that poor lifestyle choices--the same decisions we face every day about what to eat and how active to be--have on our bodies over time. But just a few small tweaks to your daily habits can help you live longer and feel stronger. You can also conquer many chronic conditions--such as some of the biggest killers in America: heart disease, type II diabetes, and some cancers--before they happen. A lively, eye-opening guide, The Doctor Is In cracks the often-intimidating wellness code. You don’t need to follow the latest health crazes. Your power to save your own life is potentially thousands of times greater than that of any physician, wellness guru, or fitness expert. The secret is in seven easy, positive, and crucial steps that will help you change the way you think about diet, exercise, and the health care system. As he breaks down the building blocks for health into doable tips and action plans, Dr. Stork demystifies nutrition, exposes food fads, explains why you should be ruthlessly skeptical of health advice, and tells you which numbers you should track to keep yourself on the road to optimal wellness. Being healthy is an important and achievable goal no matter your age or fitness level. You already hold the key to a long and happy life. It’s time to put that power into action! Did you know that you have the power to... Increase your life expectancy by up to a decade or more? Prevent or slow the development of many chronic and fatal diseases? Lower your high blood pressure? Reduce your risk of certain cancers? Conquer and reverse obesity? Potentially reduce your risk for Alzheimer’s disease? Avoid spending many years and countless thousands of dollars on agonizing medical procedures, hospital stays, and medications due to preventable conditions?

!!A 1000 FOR A TOOTHBRUSH?!!

Why You Need Your Yearly Medical Check-Ups

Everyone dislikes going to the doctor's office. We all remember trips to our pediatrician's office while growing up. Right before school started, you had to have a check-up to make sure you were developing normally and that you were healthy. The best part about these visits was always the lollipop or small toy the receptionist would give us at the end. That lollipop was the one reason why doctor's visits were always better than dentist visits; all the dentist would give you at the end of the appointment was a free toothbrush!

As adults, we are very reluctant to go see the doctor especially if we feel perfectly healthy and fine. If nothing feels wrong, then nothing is wrong right? Unfortunately, this reasoning is not always true. Sometimes doctors can catch problems long before we notice they are even there. This occurrence is always ideal; if there is a problem, it is much better that a physician catches it early on before we even notice it so that is can be treated immediately.

If you do ignore a problem for too long, things could become much worse. What started out as a small nuisance turns out to be a major health issue and you might end up in the emergency room. Emergency rooms are always places you do not want to find yourself. The waits are always long, the nurses are curt, and you are surrounded by people who feel just as miserable as you do. If, for whatever reason, you have to be admitted to the hospital, things are even worse. You are surrounded by medical supply equipment instead of your loved ones, you have only microwave chicken and blue jell-o to eat, and the other patients in your room snore so loudly that you cannot get any sleep.

Avoid all those EKG machines and long emergency room waits! You might not need a check-up every year, but you should try to go once every two or three years. Also, make sure you practice healthy exercise and eating habits.  Your family wants you to be around for as long as possible! They do not want to purchase home medical equipment in order to spend more time with you; they want you to pay attention to your health from now on. Make a check-up appointment today!
