How many window/door screen repair tools are sold in the US every year?
I just need to figure out how many tools are sold, OR how much the "Screen repair" business is worth. I invented a new tool and am going on Shark Tank and I know they are going to ask me this. Anybody have an idea of where to point me? Thanks in advance!
No way to get the full figures, but it is a lucrative business. The current Spline tools have been around for many years with the main changes being the material they are made of. Even the new screen frame kits use the tool to attach the screening.

Air Tool Repairs: The Preventative Maintenance Approach.
Air tools work by using a compressed air supply, which drives the internal workings of the air tool. The most common types of air tools in the manufacturing industry are drills, grinders and sanders. Air powered tools in the industrial market are generally cheaper to run, maintain and have a higher power to weight ratio than their electrical powered counterparts, despite being slightly more expensive in the initial purchase.
Since the initial purchase of a pneumatic tool is more expensive, it is advised that preventative maintenance is carried out, in order to prolong the tools lifespan and keep the tool running at its optimum level. Performing regular maintenance makes it possible to extend the use and reliability of the tool, be it an electric or air powered tool. The most common maintenance procedures would include partial or complete overhauls, oiling and lubricating components.
The alternative to preventative maintenance:
If preventative maintenance is not performed at regular service intervals, the likelihood of a tool failing to work correctly is increased. When a tool is no longer able to perform its required function, corrective maintenance is required. This is a reactive method of tool maintenance whereas preventative maintenance is a proactive measure. Corrective maintenance work may include the replacement of gears, cylinders, rotors, field coils, armatures and gearboxes which are normally expensive to replace.
Repairing Pneumatic tools correctly:
Preventative maintenance should be performed by trained and experienced technicians.The intervals at which maintenance checks can be carried out are typically monthly, quarterly and yearly. Preventative maintenance is an effective method of ensuring that air tools remain effective and reliable. In the present current economic climate, it is cheaper in most cases to repair a tool when compared to purchasing a new one. Conducting proactive pneumatic tool repairs will also help reduce the risk of exposing tool operators to harmful vibrations.
