Tire Mount
Bumper mount tire carrier needed for 33x10.50x15's?
I have 33x10.5x15 Interco Thornbirds that i am installing along with a superlift 4" lift on my 2001 wrangler sport and i was wondering if with the tires being skinnier if i will have to have a bumper mounted tire carrier or if the stock one will handle it? I am concerned about the much heavier weight of the tires and steel rims damaging/ripping off the stock carrier. Also the Cragar rims i am mounting them on are 15x8 with a 4" offset if that makes a diff. And lastly i was wondering what my next purchase should be other than a Hi-lift jack?
Eventually, yes, you'll want to install a bumper-mounted tire carrier and take the weight off the tailgate. Not only does it relieve the tailgate of the added weight, it also gives you a place to mount accessories like a high-lift jack, jerry cans, etc.
In the short term, you can get away with mounting the spare on the tailgate. The most critical thing in doing so is that the tire *must* rest firmly against the rubber "snubbers" - the little rubber bumpers on the tailgate and one below on the body. At the same time, the lugs that hold the spare to the carrier must be tight. If the tire is not firmly against the rubber snubbers, or if it's too tight against them that you cannot properly tighten the lugs, the tire will wobble on the carrier and tear it and your tailgate apart.
Another issue you might have is the larger tire might hang down lower than the bumper. If this is the case, you can order a spare tire relocation bracket (look for Teraflex or Tomken products that do this, about $50). If you have a body lift (1" or more), you will not have this problem with a 33" tire.
One final issue is that the center brake light will have to be raised an inch or so. I used stacks of fender washers and longer bolts on mine. The wiring barely reached, but I didn't have to splice it. I've read that some folks do have to splice in wiring extensions.
I have a 33" Goodyear MTR on my stock carrier, and so far no issues. I inspect my tailgate closely and frequently, and a bumper-mounted spare carrier will be my next investment. The tires are 285/75/R16 (33x11.5) on stock Rubicon rims - 16"x8" with 5" backspacing. I had to put a 1/4" plate between my carrier and spare tire so that the snubbers made firm but not excessive contact with the tire.
As for your next investment, you've put a lot into offense, so build up your defense. If you don't already have a good engine skid, I highly recommend one. Jeep Medic or Skid Row are awesome products, right around $300. I also recommend rocker protection - either body-mounted rocker guards (Poison Spyder or Jeeperman are good), or frame-mounted (Olympic and Jeeperman are good and don't require drilling into your frame).

what is fair price to install (mount tire on rim ) 2 tires on my yamaha yzf R6? ( i bought the tires )?
is it worth pulling off tire and rim and paying tire shop to mount -cheaper? or should i just have tires put on from start to finish by shop? what tools do i need to do myself if i just want to take tire -rim off cycle and reinstall tire-rim AFTER tire shop mounts new tires onto my rims...
It is less expensive to bring in just the wheels. If you bring the bike, you get charged for the labor in taking it apart and putting it back together. Last year, the Honda dealer charged $75.00/hr. shop rate to mount and balance two tires off the bike. Charged for an hour apiece. Yesterday, the local independent shop quoted $20.00 a piece for the same service on my HD. Shop around.
