Do we really need a high temperature oil seal?
Do we really need a high temperature oil seal for the front transaxle differential that's on the engine side?
I doubt it but a high temp seal is not any more money than a regular one anyway.

Why, if the desire is to produce ammonia industrially, is the reaction run at the high temperature?
The reaction to produce ammonia is an equilibrium :
N2(g) + 3 H2(g) == 2NH3(g)
At 300K the equilibrium constant is 3 x 108 and at 700 the equilibrium constant is 0.3. Industrially the reaction is run at the higher temperature even though the ratio of products to reactants in the equilibrium mixture is much much less than the lower temperature. Why, if the desire is to produce ammonia industrially, is the reaction run at the high temperature?
I would assume that it is because the activation energy for the reaction is extremely high. The equilibrium constant is more favorable at the lower temperature, but the reaction proceeds so slowly that the equilibrium is never reached.
K = k^1 / k^-1
K = equilibrium constant
k^1 = rate constant of forward reaction
k^-1 = rate constant of back reaction
What is important here is really k^1, which changes with temperature. At 300 kelvin, K > 1 and the equilibrium favors NH3. But, k^1 and k^-1 are both extremely small. Therefore, hardly any of the N2 and H2 react.
At 700 kelvin, K < 1 and the equilibrium favors N2 and H2. But in this case, both k^1 and k^-1 are large enough that a significant amount of the gases are reacting.
