How do i get my income tax refunds on time?
I have yet to get my income tax refunds for the income tax filed for the annual years 2005-2006 and 2006-2007. Have everyone got it? how do i know when will i get my returns ? My CA said that there is nothing they can do anything as everything is based on the income tax department. Please help.
What your CA said is correct. I advise you to forget about the refund if the refund is Rs.1,000 or Rs.2,000. If the amount is more, then you can contact the concerned ITO for refund or you can give your letter to the Grievance cell of the Income Tax department in your town. Or you can contact the ITO Clark for his help. It will be able to help you fast but it costs.
In my 39 years of returns filing, I just missed one or two refunds which was not more than Rs.500/- each. I always keep some tax balance and pay it with interest to avoid claiming refund. But in some cases payment of taxes will not be in your hands due to TDS. That time you have to claim refund.
