Tavern Red
Tavern Red
book about elves?

I remember reading a few books , I know they're part of a pretty popular series but I cant remember the books or series names...there were twins named Caramon(a big tough guy who marries the town barmaid) and Raistlin(a very sickly dark wizard who goes to a blank type of world).Theres also a girl with fiery red curls who runs the tavern. They all go on some type of journey, I think to fix a dispute between the elven clans(I remember some of the elven clans names were dragonesti, silvanesti, and qualinesti).Somewhere along the line caramon & someone else on the journey get imprisoned in a work camp and raistlin falls in love with an elf & gives her a heartstone, but then he dies, and they run into some breed of really scummy elves. If anyone can help with the titles of these books or the series name it would be greatly appreciated. Also, what was the name of the princess elf who got the heartstone? I think it started with an A.Thanks so much. (:

"The Dragonlance Chronicles" by Tracy Hickman

Princess Aislen?

"Dragonlance Chronicles is simply stated, one of the finest fantasy trilogies ever written. As an inaugural set of novels for these two fine authors; Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman set the standard in fantasy writing in the late eighties through today. I first read this trilogy in 1987 and was astounded by its complexity of characters and the breadth of the tale; it is truly epic in proportion. I can only imagine the agony readers might've have gone through if they were reading these fine novels, as they were being released over several months. That is certainly not a problem today, as you can purchase this outstanding trilogy in one set.
You will quickly discover that the characters are highly compelling and well detailed. These two authors have woven a wonderful tapestry in these characters; you will find yourself as elated as they are in their collective victories and as heartbroken in their setbacks.

Contained within these pages are Dragonlances core characters that are quite memorable, well after you've finished this fine trilogy and as history as proven, will inspire several Dragonlance novels to follow.

Tanis Half-Elven - Who is the leader of the companions. He is torn between his love for two women.

Sturm Brightblade - Knight of Solamnia. Squire and Knight whose mission in life is to bring honor back to this stoic group of knights.

Goldmoon - Chieftan's Daughter of the Barbarian Plainsmen. Along with Riverwind, her tribal outcast lover and husband, who are both on a quest for truth.

Riverwind - Lover and later husband of Goldmoon, whose sole mission in life is to guard Goldmoon.

Raistlin - Simply stated, the most alluring character of the whole Dragonlance series. He is a Mage of astounding power and brother of Caramon. The reader will quickly find themselves asking as to which side, good or evil, Raistlin is aspiring to.

Caramon - A rather large fighter and he feels that it is his sole mission in life to protect his seemingly ungrateful brother, Raistlin.

Flint Fireforge - He is a Hill Dwarf who is in his later years. He has been friend to Tanis for quite some time and an adventurer with the other prime characters as well. This character plays quite well at times in the comedic role of stodgy old curmudgeon who is also quite protective over the companions.

Tasslehoff Burfoot - Tas, as he's referred to most of the time, is a Kender. Kender are considered to be a nuisance on Krynn, as they are immune to fear and consequently, trouble seems to follow them everywhere. Simply put, Tas is the most lovable character among the group, as his high spirits and his antics carry the story along quite well.

These characters come back together just as the Queen of Darkness is beginning her play to bring evil and darkness down upon the magical world of Krynn. You will find yourself amiably rambling along with these characters in their adventures to bring an end to this threat."

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A tavern or pothouse is, loosely, a place of business where people gather to drink alcoholic beverages and, more than likely, also be served food, though not licensed to put up guests. The word derives from the Latin taberna and the Greek /taverna, whose original meaning was a shed or workshop. The distinction of a tavern from an inn, bar or pub varies by location, in some places being identical and in others being distinguished by traditions or by legal license. In Renaissance England, a tavern was distinguished from a public ale house by dint of being run as a private enterprise, where drinkers were guests rather than members of the public. Red River Ski Vacations - The Ski Town of the Southwest

Called the "Ski Town of the Southwest", Red River Ski Resort lies on Black Mountain, rising directly above the town of Red River, New Mexico. The historical town of Red River itself has an altitude of 8,750 feet, while Black Mountain has an altitude of 10,350 feet and a vertical drop of 1,601 feet. The resort offers six chair lifts and one surface lift, with 58 trails divided equally on 290 acres of skiable areas for skiers and snowboarders, with 32% beginners, 38% intermediates, and 30% experts. With an annual snowfall of 252 inches, the snow is 85% man made. With a ski school, group and private lessons available, even if you've never skied before, you will quickly be on the slopes after your first lessons. There are even lessons for snowboarders, who are welcome on the Red River slopes. You can rent all of your ski and snowboarding equipment for very reasonable rates.

Red River caters to families and children, with both children and their parents enjoying a separate, full-service facility on the slopes. The children's programs offer ski, snowboard, and snow blade lessons. Both full and half-day programs come with an optional lunch. The ski and snowboard schools offer these lessons for all ages and levels, with a fun-loving staff of certified instructors. Special clinics are available upon request. Child care programs are available, provided by an attentive staff which provides for child care, lunch, and play for children ages 4-months to 4-years of age. Both full-day and half-day child care programs are available. For children who are over 4-years of age, the Youth Ski Center is offered to provide ski and snowboard lessons.

Many activates make Red River stand out from the rest of the ski resorts. Their history is very much alive and part of everyday life, not shoved away in a museum to gather dust. On Wednesday, a free program offers guests a free Wednesday night if they have already checked in Sunday or Monday. In addition, guests who purchase any Red River Ski Area 3-day lift ticket can get equipment rental or lessons, receiving the 4th day free of the same item. But most of all, good ol' mountain fun is a primary activity here, with old-fashioned western traditions bringing visitors and their families back year after year. An annual party, "The Mardi Gras of the Mountains", is part of the western tradition for everyone – enjoying a mouth watering Texas-sized steak, cooked to how you like it, and then some fancy two steppin' with your honey to some good music. What more could you ask for?

Red River Ski Resort also has several excellent places to eat, in addition to excellent night life. Some places of interest are the Motherlode Saloon or the Bull O Woods Bar, Texas Red's Steakhouse, the Chalet Cafeteria, and Capo's Italian Restaurant. Of course, if you want to eat on the slope area – choose the Ski Tip Restaurant located at 10,350 feet up, serving lunch, beer and wine, with wonderful scenic views. The Lift House Bar, at the base of the main lift, is open for lunch and spirits, an "apres ski libation". Going out on the town is great in Red River. After a day on the slopes, sometimes people wants to just kick back and relax at the lodge, or visit one of the taverns in the area. For the younger crowd, there is a great game room located right in the center of the town. One of the great things about Red River is that everything is within walking distance of the lodging areas, and shuttles are provided for transportation to and from the slopes.

Why? Because the name is unique and that generally shows this person is an important character. It's a mistake us writers often make, giving bold names to the main character(sadly, sometimes it makes the story predictable).

I'm guessing "Octavia" is a female variation of the Latin "Octavius" or "Octavio". I'm only guessing so pardon me if I'm incorrect. :)

I dislike "Wren Whitley" because of the double "W". Even in reality, I question the parents of someone who decides to name their child with a similar first name to their surname. I've seen a Bob Joebob… I mean, really? Poor kid….
