Why is my cockateil going bald?
It all started about a week ago when the feathers around her ear started to disappear. And when I checked on her today the back of her head was bald. I feed her the grocery store brand of cockatiel food, and give her regular water, I clean her cage every 2-3 days and clean her water every 1-2 days.
I havent seen this in the other two cockateils I own. But shes special to me because when she was little and with her previous owner(breeder) she was attacked by a larger bird, now she only has like 3 finger-toes, and she cant fly because the bigger bird somehow clipped her wing.
PLEASE HELP!!!
She is molting then I guess... But then again it started from her ears, could it be mites or something?
Are the birds place together in one cage? The others may be picking on your bird...
OR...she might be molting, and just losing her feathers due to disease, or mites or ticks. Go to a vet, if the bird is showing extra symptoms or obvious signs of sickness.
