Soundcraft Audio

audio mixer and preamp hookup?
I have a dbx preamp, and a soundcraft mixer. I want to tun the mic through the dbx, then to the mixer, so I can use the dbx preamp. So, right now I have my ADK microphone plugged into the the mic input on the preamp. Then I have the 1/4 inch output running into the 1/4 inch on channel one in the mixer, and I get no sound. So I'm guessing that I might have to buy a 1/4 plug to female mic end, then plug the mic end into the mixer and just not run 48V on the mixer? Does this sound right?
yes the mic works when plugged directly into the mixer when I turn the mixers 48v on. Like I said though...I want to the dbx preamp and not the soundcraft mixers preamp. This is hella hard trying to explain....heh
Does the mic work when you go directly into the mixer, or do you need the pre-amp? It doesnt soud as if you are doing anything wrong.

and i want this digital audio mixer http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Soundcraft-LX7ii-24Channel-Mixer?sku=630928
the problem is that my laptop does not have firewire only usb 2.0 and the mixer has only firewire.....
is there anyway that i can convert the firewire to usb with a cable or a hub? or should i get some cheap mac or something to only use for audio editing and such.... help please im really sad that this mixer only has firewire -_-
Either you gave us a bad link with the Soundcraft LX7ii 24-Channel Mixer, or I'm missing something in the documentation. I see no sign of that device having any type of Firewire or Midi connector in the specifications or manual.
Many laptops can handle firewire. If they don't have it built in, it can be added via PCMCIA or Cardbus card. Neither type is available on your budget laptop, so you're out of luck.
