Soft Serve Ice Cream?
does anyone have a good recipe for chocolate soft serve ice cream? I have to make a ton for the fourth of july...and dont say "go out and buy some"! thank you!
Homemade ice cream is considered "soft serve" when it comes straight out of the ice cream maker or if you let it soften for several minutes after taking it out of the freezer.
Here’s my favorite recipe for chocolate ice cream. You can make it with or without an ice cream maker. It makes 1.5 quarts - serves 10 people.
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate
2 cups heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
All you have to do is:
On the stove or in micro, heat milk ‘til it begins bubbling.
As the milk’s heating, chop chocolate in a blender until fine.
Stir chocolate and sugar together.
Mix milk and chocolate so that chocolate melts and sugar dissolves. Stir until smooth and let it cool.
After the mixture has cooled, add cream and vanilla extract.
Chill 30 minutes.
Pour into ice cream maker and mix according to manufacturer’s instructions – about 25 min.
