Sign Radiator Service
My 1997 Honda Accord 4 cyn automatic has had a check engine light for a 1 1/2 yrs Help!!!!?
I have had three tune ups, transmission serviced, manifold intake repaired, o-rings replaced, 2 water pumps replaced within a year and a half, spark plug wires replaced, distributor replaced, heater hose replaced, fan switch replaces, radiator hoses replaced, timing belts replace. The car has not made it 30 days without the check engine light coming on. The car continues to have a misfire code. The bolt was bad on one of the water pumps and that took three months before they got that right. Which caused the timing belt to come off while driving into to work one day. Also it has started to run rough when I stop at a light or stop sign, when driving it is smooth until you hit about 60 -65 mph it kind of hesitates. I had the car checked for transmission problems however they state it is fine. Just this past week it stop going over 60 mph. Help, I use to love my car now I am terrified to drive it anywhere. Could the issue with the water pump cause other problems to appear now?
I have a feeling everyone is missing the diagnostic boat here. I think your EGR passages are clogged with carbon and now it's getting bad enough to hold the EGR valve open and cause a rough idle. Find a good drivability technician and have him check the operation of the EGR system.

Professional Cooling System Maintenance (by Run-Rite)
1995 honda civic still overheating with new radiator?
my brothers honda has been overheating for some time, not sure exactly maybe 2 mnths maybe more, so he replaced the radiator and cleaned out the tubes. today he overheated to H sooner within 15 mins and loss about a quarter of reserve water in that time frame, he doesnt use antifreeze because of cost. others suggest the cooling fan, which doesnt seem to be working but did on/off before, the thermostat - i dont know how important that is to the cooling system so inform please, also the water pump, and the gasket.
my question is with the new radiator loosing fluid in short time what could be the problem? what could be the cost to fix service and parts?
also could it be the worst and be a blown gasket or is that more major, what would the signs and cost?
oh yea there seems to be no leaks below the car or through the muffler.
haha plus we live in california where it is super hot in the summer dont know if the holds any relevance but it was like 100 today.
there a lot of things to look at in an overheating engine.First, be sure that there are really no leaks in hose, water pump. You said that you looses a lot of water in the reservoir but you are not seeing any leaks. I think you have an internal leak. A blown cylinder head gasket. This is basically not good if not given attention coz water might reach the inside of the engine and mix with oil. It can be a change engine or if your lucky enough, engine block. So have it replace at once. Also check if your auxilliary fan is working fine. This is very important coz it maintains the temperature of your engine. If your fan is ok, your water pump must be check also. It might be defective already, thus having a poor circulation of water to the pump to the radiator. Thermostat is very important also to be check. Lastly, you have to have a good quality coolant, 50/50 mixture of water and coolant. It helps a lot in maintaining a good level of temperature.
