Sign Outdoor Restaurant
Is it illegal to use a photo of a local restaurant as a Facebook group's profile picture?
I made a Facebook group for a local restaurant in my town and I took a picture of part of the restaurant's outdoor sign. Is it legal to use this photo as the profile picture for my Facebook group or do I have to have the restaurant's permission?
I only took a picture of the sign under the logo. It's one of those white signs with the black letters that can be removed so that new things can be written. The name of the restaurant is not in the picture. I basically took a picture of a part of the property.
Yes it is if you do not have their permission and knowledge and use of their name and image.
If for some reason they should claim that their name and image have been misrepresented, and that they have lost that reputation and/or business due to your posting it on a public website - they could have legal grounds to sue you.
Always ask permission first, before you use an name, image, logo - as you also could be in breach of copyright.

Digital Signage and an Outdoor LCD Enclosure
Now there is an operational efficiency that is associated with digital signage, no longer do we use printed signs, as these take longer to produce and then it takes time for staff to put the static posters in the right locations. You can still upload the content via the internet and you can even use wireless connectivity as well as wired connectivity for the Internet, the only difference is that you are not tied to inside the store.
