Sign Bud Light
empty but unopened. why?
i bought a 18 pack of bud light and the last can was UNOPENED and there was no beer in it. the pop top wasn't open no holes dents no sign of it being drained. it was totally empty! what gives?
I occasionally have this problem and I asked my liquor rep why this happens. He said that it's due to the can lineup at the manufacturer. With most breweries the cans actually run faster than the output jets (which put the beer in the can) so once every 400-500 cans one goes through empty and gets sealed. Sometimes it may be that the machine ejects one can too many. A scale usually weighs them to see if they are full at the end of production and before packaging. If that scale goes down for just a few seconds and an empty can just happens to go through then WHAMO you've got an empty can. I run into this problem about two or three times a year.
With as many cans and bottles of beer that breweries produce it's a wonder it doesn't happen more often. You'd be amazed how complicated the machinery lineup and process is!
