It's hard to calculate because of the extra cards that are not part of your hand. Assuming you're holding two of the cards, the odds of hitting it on the flop would be 1 in 19600, or 0.005102041%. Total odds of getting a royal flush in 5 cards is 1 in 649740, a royal in spades is 1 in 2598960. I'm not sure how to figure it out for 7 cards.

Poker is one of the most popular card games and becoming increasingly challenging. It consists of a few basic rules but the actual game play can get complex the longer you play. It’s a game based on strategy and luck. As with any game, you get better the longer you play. I highly recommend playing some flash based games that cost you nothing. Before we even think about sitting down for some poker, we have to understand what a “buy-in” means. You’ll hear that term a lot in championship poker and sometimes with friends. It simply means you have to put in some cash before you’re allowed to play and whoever wins the poker game gets the cash. Depending on how many are playing and how much the bets are, you may have to put in what is called a “big blind” or a “small blind”. Big blind refers to the amount of chips you have to put in to play a hand. A small blind is half of that. This serves a purpose of getting people to play and win the pot. You’re dealt two cards. Depending on your experience this usually determines if you’re in or not. Often times it’s better to put your bet in when you have high number cards / face cards. Before you’re handed any more cards, there’s a betting stage where everyone can either bet, raise, or call. A call refers to the same amount of chips that the previous person put in. For example: If Bob puts in 10 chips, you must put in 10. If you’re a big blind, you don’t need to put any more chips unless someone raised the amount. If you’re small blind, you put in half of what you initially put in. Example: Your small blind is 5, so you put 5 more in to match the big blind amount. If you put more chips in, you’re raising the bet and could force Bob out if he decides his cards are no good. If Bob puts his cards away, it’s commonly known as folding. Folding can be used as a strategy even though the person may have lost chips. Another term commonly used in poker and many other card games is a “hand”. It’s not your physical hand, but the kind of cards you are holding. A bad hand has a lower percentage of winning. Let’s get more into strategy. This is what poker is all about and makes the game exciting. When you have a bad hand, typically you don’t want to lose any more chips so you fold. However, if you’ve had many good hands and other people have seen this, you can raise the bet when you have a bad hand. This makes other players fold in fear of you having another good hand. On the flip side, if you’ve had bad hands all night and fold, the players will assume that you just have bad luck and will attempt to put as many chips as possible to force you out with a bad hand. You return with a better hand than theirs, catching them off guard and cashing in on the giant pot.
Strongest to weakest hands: Pair – When you have two of the same card. Example: Jack of Spades and Jack of Hearts. Three of a kind – As the name implies, it’s three of the same card. Example: Queen of Clubs, Queen of Hearts, and Queen of Spades Four of a kind – Having four of the same card. It’s pretty rare, but very achievable. Straight – Having a group of cards that are sequential. Example: 2 of clubs, 3 of diamonds, 4 of spades, 5 of clubs, 6 of hearts. Flush – Having the same suit of cards. Example: 2 of spades, Ace of spades, Queen of Spades, 5 of Spades, 10 of spades Royal Flush – This is the ultimate winning hand, the highest-ranking hand. It’s also the most difficult to achieve. Example: Ace of spades, King of Spades, Queen of Spades, Jack of Spades, 10 of spades.
