Rolling Rock Pittsburgh

Y!A'ers within a couple hundred miles of Pittsburgh, can you help us?
Angelface and I have a couple free days coming up this week, and we're looking for someplace neat to go, leaving Wednesday morning and coming home Thursday night. We've already done Niagara Falls, the Rock and Roll and Football Halls of Fame, Wheeling Island Racetrack and Casino Resort, and Cedar Point. Any suggestions? As the question says, we're based in Pittsburgh, and we don't mind a 4-5 hour drive, which can cover a big area, since my sweetie considers the speed limit only a suggestion.
Ah, you're preaching to the choir on that one, Jen. We've made the trek up to Presque Isle Downs several times. We love it up there.
i've always wanted to check it out, but haven't, yet. why not go see frank lloyd wrights "falling water"? it's practically in your back yard.

Help, I need a road trip vacation advise. From Philly to Chicago.?
I am taking the kids on a road trip to chicago from philly this August. We are going to spend about 4-5 days in chicago. We are also making day stops in Cleveland (Rock and roll Hall of Fame), Canton (Foosball Hall of Fame) and Detroit (The Henry Ford, Rouge Plan etc) and Pittsburgh (Carnegie Museums).
Driving straight through will probably take me about 11-12 hours plus a few hours for food and bathroom breaks.
I was originally going to go straight to chicago making the day stops on the way back to Philly, but now I am thinking about doing them the other way around.
We are taking an extra day off at the end just to relax and recouperate.
So, would you drive out first or drive back last instead?
I did the same darn thing 25 years ago while helping a friend get from Chicago to Hartford by Philadelphia. Having couches in the back of the truck made sleeping in the parking lot at Three Rivers Stadium cheap and comfortable while taking in the town. The Armory was neat. You could see through the river water much better than you can the Chicago River (I'd like to see Daley eat a fish out of that!). Street cars on cobblestone streets.
Get here first and then take your time getting home. And grab lunch at Terry's place by Madison and Austin before dark on the west side. With over 100 things on the carry-out places menu, it's a good reasonably priced feed bag you'll remember fondly before hitting the lakefront tourist traps. Bring a digital camera to upload the tons of pics you'll be taking.
Get in a Cubs game too. The team has more bars dedicated specifically to it than any other. Families in the suburbs jam up them cattle cars of the midwest at seasons end in spite of their record. (There's a moral at the bottom of that stein someplace!)
Blues fest is fun but the Sailboat Regalia and the Air show along the lakefront is better. Fireworks over the Field Museum works too. Forget Taste of Chicago. Over priced waste of time on a hot summer day and it's less crowded in the neighborhoods. There's something for everybody here if you do some research. And research it you should. It wouldn't do to well having kids in tow asking in response to a sign they read "What does Gay mean?" as you walk in front of the Lake Shore Theater.
