Right Tin Sign
can i buy a roasting tin and smehow purposely make it rusty, and make a sign out of it?
i have found rusty tin, but the ones i have found are not big enough for the project i want to do
i want to make a large picture to put on the wall about 12 inches square, or maybe bigger, or maybe rectangle
a baking sheet would probablt be about the right size
could i just but one and dip it in something for a few days to purpoely make it rusty, then i can paint my own deign on to it
do you know how to do this
what would be the best thing to paint with after, ot would it be better to draw with pens or somthing

Best to make it rusty is take a scouring pad to it to make scratches these will let the rust form and take off any protective layers if any.
then make a mixture of salt water (if you don't live near the sea) and spray it on (ie not submerged but wet/damp still allowing oxygen to get to it)
You will also need the right sort of metal as some metals will not rust ( i believe aluminium and zinc are within this) something iron is best.
Best to paint onto it will be acrylic paints i think as they stick to lots of things but if your material goes too rusty the top surface may "peel" away with the rust so be careful!
