The Exploited: Rock & Roll Outlaws - $24.99 Veteran British punk rockers The Exploited have built a career out of making trouble and refusing to be silenced, and this documentary examines their over twenty years on the road. The Exploited: Rock & Roll Outlaws features extensive interview footage with group leader Wattie Buchan, as well as plenty of rare concert footage taken from the band's archives. Songs include "Punk's Not Dead," "Exploited Barmy Army," "I Believe in Anarchy," "Sex and Violence," "Army Life," and more. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

Live & Rare $12.99 Reagan Youth: Dave Insurgent (vocals); Paul Cripple (guitar); Al Pike (bass); Steve (drums).Recorded between 1982 & 1988. Includes liner notes by Nicky Garratt.Unlike most CDs with this title, this one is no slipshod, thrown-together, cheap make-a-buck CD. Live & Rare replaces Reagan Youth's first (good but flawed) album as the real document of one of the better-remembered hardcore bands of early-'80s New York. When they were high schoolers, they regrettably didn't have their sh*t together to accept an invitation for the seminal 1981 compilation New York Thrash, as befit their emergence as a beloved group on that genuinely fresh scene. But oddly enough, when Al Pike joined on bass and '60s Who/Jam/Chords fan (such mod leanings were super-rare in N.Y. hardcore!) Steve Weissman took over the drums, they actually became a far more powerful and aggressive unit, twice the previous power. So it matters that Live & Rare is dedicated exclusively to the Pike/Weissman era (a little more than a year) and wisely compiles the best of five 1983 CBGB gigs and a few studio cuts when the band peaked. In contrast to their passable (but not as loud or smashing) studio work, this live stuff smokes as it should from the memory of these hot, sweaty, packed-in, wild, afternoon gigs. This takes you back! Whew! Although you're deprived of the sight of charismatic, hyper-friendly, garrulous, big-eyed, oddly innocent, but somehow also super-intense frontman Dave Insurgent (whose descent into narcotics took the band down, then tragically took his life), his personality still drives this car. Perhaps the anti-system lyrics seem na?ve to the more "why bother" youth of today, but his irrepressible spirit was symptomatic of when everyone believed punk to be the true protest music of its time (and hand in hand, the true hot rock & roll of the period!) in that post-Watergate, Reagan-led era, a position history has validated and vindicated. Reagan Youth weren't the best or the brightest in punk or hardcore, but like the other greats of 1982, they had a certain something -- real belief, real distaste, and real camaraderie -- and with the right band/attack this time, it's exciting once more to hear. ~ Jack Rabid |

Awesome Indie Rock by Antihero
ANTI-HERO: This is Real Rock'n'Roll
Keeping her mouth shut is something that ANTI-HERO’s frontwoman Rose Perry has never been able to master. Growing up as a troubled and confused youth, music was the one outlet through which she could gain total acceptance. Never succumbing to negative temptation, Perry sought refuge through her artistic endeavours in hopes that the experiences she went through would one day serve as inspiration for her listeners.
"ANTI-HERO’s music is refreshing. It motivates me to be strong and confident." - Amelia Favata, Creator, ANTI-HERO Streetteam Leader
Never anticipating that she would end up the leader behind a rock and roll phenomenon, Perry, unlike other rockers, maintains humility and takes the time to show her fans how much they are appreciated.
"Anti-Hero's live shows are loud, obnoxious, a little silly at times ... you can’t ask for anything better than that. Anti-Hero always go out of the way to make their fans feel special, which is rare these days in music."- Patman Coates, Official ANTI-HERO Bitch
Acting as not only a band comprised of four extremely talented musicians, but rather the voice of a generation, ANTI-HERO has captured issues of societal prominence through the lyrics of their hard-hitting catchy rock-infused anthems.
"ANTI-HERO’s music has helped me so much on an individual basis – they put light in my dark days, and even more light in the good days. They are not just a band; they are four people who I look up to. Much love to them."– Mich Elik, Creator, ANTI-HERO Fansite
Dubbed as the '21st Century’s Answer to Nirvana' (CoverZone Magazine, USA), ANTI-HERO’s raw unapologetic attitude harkens back to a time when music, like any other art form, was inspirational, not sold as a commodity.
With their passionate presence, and commitment to delivering music with meaning, ANTI-HERO continues to raise the standards for musicians everywhere.
"ANTI-HERO is the heart of what music was meant to be. Passion. Drive. Dedication. Inspiration. And always presented with a positive message."– Jackery Schlifer, ANTI-HERO fan
Comprised of Nic VanH, Perry’s bombshell blonde sidekick on Bass & Backing Balls, Jesse Tomes, the group’s Lead Guitarist, Arranger & Comic relief, and finally, Todd Stewart, more commonly known as T-Bag (yes, there is a good story behind this one folks) keeping it loud, consistent, and in perfect tempo on drums, ANTI-HERO is not your average rock quartet.
As Perry explains, "We try to promote ‘following one’s dreams’ as one of our strongest messages. We write what we know – how we feel, and who we are as people. We don’t write your cliché love and hate songs, but rather, with our music, we try to pay homage to the artists of the past who have made the industry what it is today. We are not here to fit into any molds, or preconceived notions of what it means to be in a female-fronted band. This is real rock with real attitude, and we are real people just trying to tell our story, hoping we can reach others with what we say."
ANTI-HERO’s definitely primed to take on the music biz, and with their impressive D.I.Y. ethics which have earned them accolades of success, seeing them crowned as rock and roll royalty will surely be no surprise to anyone.
In a time when the music industry is over-run by copycat artists selling their souls just to become the next flavour of the week, ANTI-HERO, like Nirvana, remains true to their vision: playing the music that they want.Goto thisindie rock band's newjuke site for a listen.
