The best places to have a drink are truly dependant on the mood you are in, the mood of the weather gods and the atmosphere you are looking for. So here follows a few suggestions of stereotypical life situations when you really just want to have a drink at a bar or nightclub:

Next on the list of wind down joints would be Ravesis's on Bondi Beach. Bathed in modern luxury and beautifully fitted out, it exudes pretty people and cold drinks that are just what you need after your boss has slaved you about on his sea of pretensions. Tantalisingly well lit up it'll bring the necessary light and colour to any conversation and the people inside are just so darn good looking that you can literally watch your ego lift towards the ceiling and float above you like a halo. Coupled with the views just opposite, there's no need for perfume as you are encircled by the smells of the salty sea.
Your in a bright bubbly mood, full of life and the pleasure associated with a new borne desire to meet new cool people that'll show you an unbelievable time. All you want are strong drinks and flirtier conversation…
For this, generally a crawl should be involved – therefore venturing into a suburb or main street that's filled with bars and nightclubs is generally your best option. Wear your loudest shoes, your tightest underpants and your skinniest jeans and sprint out into the night…
Surry Hills: The ultimate destination for eclectic tastes – there are artists, young business types with fresh money, musicians, visual designers, entertainment types, gurus, heroes and everything in between. The choice of bars and nightclubs reflects this mix admirably. Wonder down Crown St and you can step back in time at somewhere like Chingaling or Gaslight Inn or launch into the heavy world of today's hipsters at Toko or the White Horse. With a bevy of different menus and choices and generally a healthy smattering of beautiful people, Surry Hills will never disappoint. The Lounge is an alluring venue with its décor and rough hewn grit and glamour. The Gazebo is a place to step up on a ladder and meet the rest of the wallpaper and ceiling and roof tile types of the area who linger just above everybody else. Otherwise just venture out onto the streets and just be bedazzled by the spectacular and the weird that line the streets of Surry Hills daily and nightly.
Newtown: A prime time hub for weirdness, Newtown nonetheless has many secret hole in the wall bars and nightclubs. Zanzi Bar, famed for its affordability and zesty appeal always has something on its mind and venture out to its rooftop and see exactly what she‘s thinking about. Soak up its mix and match wallpaper and get lost in inspiration and alcohol. The Cooper's Bar upstairs deck offers Zen tranquillity with rewarding meals and open spaces to express thyself. Kuleto's offers everything in the way of a good time but if your really after some special treatment look no further than the very own and very original and always buzzing and humming Courthouse Hotel. Dripping with bohemian chic and a run down grotty feel, it draws a diverse crowd who all have something to say and a very particular way of saying it. Newtown is a feast for the senses and is accommodating to any and every particular taste, infatuation and passion.
Look I just want to have a good time, not think about where I'm going in life, why I'm in a relationship and just get tipsy and see where the night takes me and just go where the action is…
We've all been there senor, but there is no other place (aside from your handy, trusty, local) than The Clock on ye olde faithful Crown Street in Surry Hills. It is in all respects the perfect place, well balanced with ample space, great deals, zesty people, adventurous types, views, food and always on the lookout for a darn good time. People and service never disappoint probably because both know just how awesome the place is.
The other trusty establishment is a nightclub and one so fiendishly good at what it does it can literally make you sick. World Bar is a true establishment in all senses of the word. It has history, character and an ever revolving door for fun. The bar staff exude cleavage and sex appeal and their teapots are a heaven send for easy come on's and tailored for meet and greets. Never mind that they undermine the stereotypical assumptions borne from being gentlemanly, chivalrous and well behaved whenever drinking tea – these teapots are fuel for a ridiculous time and World Bar rarely disappoints and is rarely left empty handed.
