okay, so my 2001 dodge ram needs a starter. b4 i try to clean it and fix it, is there anyway i culd put my old 1991 jeep starter in it and would i work? wont it since its dodge chrysler and jeep? plz help so i can either clean the out the one in the dodge and see if it works so i wnt hav to buy a new one.

ya i was gonna go out and try to get one from a junk yard but a good friend said that it may not last so u mite jus get a new one, but i mean gettin sumthan out of a junk yard..who knows how long it will last...thats y its called a junk yard lol.

If your truck has a straight 6 then maybe. My guess is that they are incompatible. Jeep used the bomb proof AMC 6 all the way through 2005 I think. Even though Jeep has been wearing the Chrysler banner since 1988,, there was no sense in fixing something that never broke.
