Whats going on here?
The government are giving local councils £30 million, so they can employ thousands of staff to catch people having a cigarette when the smoking ban in public places comes into force in July!!There is going to be COVERT operations in pubs, clubs,restaurants, etc, etc, etc.I'm sure there are hundreds of other worthwhile causes this money could be going on. Is it just me, or are we ALL going barmy?
New York City implemented a similar policy in 2002. I was flabbergasted that they would use up valuable resources right after we were attacked!
Yes, I am a smoker, but that has little bearing on how I feel about the subject. I am a respectful smoker who asks before lighting up in front of others. I don't have a problem going outside if asked, but to have government interferring really hurts the mom and pop bars and restaurants here.
I say put those resources to work in other ways - terrorism, child perpetrators, dead beat parents, violent crime - there are so many other things that the government should be focused on!

Question about age limit for alcohol and cigarettes?
I was in co-op shop... and they lady behind the counter was talking to a customer and told her that the age limit for cigarettes and alcohol is going to rise to age 25.. by 1st of June or July...
Is this true?

Me personally i think its ridiculous, its not because i'm a smoker its just because your legally an adult at 18.. so why raise it so high..
And being 25 to get alcohol is silly too.. due to people under the age of 25 won't be able to go clubbing or pubs....

If they go that way then why bother allow it to be legal, i don't know about the age limit being raised but i know some EU countries have already started to take the cigarettes of display even though they still sell them legally. Don't be surprised by whatever you hear, if the EU is running the show soon it will be the law for sweet shops not to sell sweets to obese people. Funny that isn't it? Eu banning everything but two of the EU's main countries have legalized prostitution!
