What is the best type of pen to use when inking a drawing?
Please be specific as possible.
I'm going to be using it for some fairly detailed work.
Also any tips for inking a drawing?
The best pen would be one with very free flowing ink, so stay away from bic ball rollers. Try an actual ink quill type pen. They allow for a fantastic range of line quality and thickness all in the same stroke depending on how hard you press the tip to the paper. A quill pen allows for greater expression and is far more artistic than a roller ball point pen. You can pick up a set with ink at any art supply store.
My advice for ink drawing is to lightly sketch in pencil first, then go over it carefully with the pen. Also, if you truly want to be able to create beautiful lines with the ink, get yourself a sketch pad and practice scribbling and drawing lines on the pages for 30 minutes a day. You'll soon be really good at it and will have amazing control and understanding of the ink and pen, and after a while you'll be a master at it.
