Paw Light Sign
My son is 22 months old and does not talk that much ?
He can say mama.papa,paw-paw,momo,bye-bye, hi,clock,woff for dog,bob for spongebob,dee for diego,all gone,done,dight for light,ine for mine,and a few more ocassionally.He is in early steps so a speech therapists come to the house but she does not do much for his vocabulary.She usually just plays with him.I am really concerned.His ears are clear ,so the doc says so no tubes.He has been to a neurologist and they seem to think he's fine.He has done everything late.He did not sit up alone or crawl till he was a year and did not walk till he was 17 months.So I hope he is just late on this too.I don't know why he can't say simple things like no,cup,drink,food.The therapist taught him sign language for more and now he uses that as a crutch.I am so mad at that,I told her I was against it, but she said it will help him to comunicate.I think he is smart he understands well.I work with him everyday what else can I do ?
If he is already developmentally delayed, why would you want to further delay his development by restricting the use of sign language? If he truly does have a learning disability, you're part of the problem, rather than the solution to help your child communicate with you in the future.
The speech therapist does "play therapy" so that the child doesn't realize it's therapy, rather it's done in a natural setting where he's not going to be nervous or feel like he's talking to a doctor (which instills fear in the hearts of most young children, even 22 months old!). She may bounce a ball to him and repeat "ball" to him as she passes it and then wait for him to repeat the same.
He may be really intelligent, as you say. But surely you've seen movies about autistic kids who are brilliant--almost genius level--and still can barely speak?
Only time will tell what his abilities will ultimately be. Until then, work WITH your therapist, rather than against and you may be surprised that he'll make great strides as he ages and starts using his hands less and his mouth more. Until he can do that effectively, he'll have to get the communication into his hands.

Exposure from the hot searing sun and hot surfaces are just a couple dangers that come along with summer. All dog breeds are susceptible to the intense heat of the summer sun.
