Outside Party "decorations" and "must-haves".......?
My girlfriend is turning 23 this wknd and Im having a bash outside...what are some must haves or good idea's for decorating to make it special and not just another weekend at the house drinking?
We are going to be grilling, playin music, I have 3 coolers ready, picked up some hotdogs, we'll be having a fire later, thinking of renting a volleyball net for badmitten and volleyball. but I have no decorations or anything, I know we're older now (lol) but I at least want something cool!
I put up a string of lights around our deck and under the deck for when people are outside and borrowed some tiki torches from her mom...still looking for some good idea's and I know you guys have them!

go to your local lawn and garden, and get some patio lanterns, they come in all shapes and sizes, and maybe pick up a few flowering plants or just a couple of potted flowers . a nice birthday card, a colored table cloth,( the flannel backed vinyl are the best for outside.) oh, and don't forget the cake or cupcakes, and maybe some marshmallows for later at the fire.

How do I make yarn ball lanterns?

Those are pretty similar to the ones that I want to make except I want to use a different kind of yarn (something similar to this kind of texture and size (http://www.theyarnco.com/brand_display/251 )
In any case, I have no idea how to start with this project. I was thinking of going out and buying a string of christmas lights (white cord, clear bulb), then finding some clear baubles, trying to wind yarn around those and finally mount those baubles somehow to the string of lights. Anyway, i don't know if there is something I should be looking for or a method of mounting the lights, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
Get some little balloons that will be round when blown up. Soak your yarn on wallpaper paste, decoupage medium or white glue mixed with water, and wind it onto the balloon. Leave an opening for the light. When it's dry, pop the balloon. Get some lights on a string and put one into the hold, then secure with a little bit of masking tape. Make a whole bunch of balls to cover all the lights on the string.
