Open Sign Tanning
Just signed up for the gym but I have a torn ACL?
My husband has been bugging me and bugging me for us to sign up for a gym, so we finally did last night. Anytime Fitness, which is open 24hrs and i get unlimited tanning (oh yeah).
Anyways... I have a torn ACL in my right knee. Happened back in June and I havnt had surgery for it. (No insurance and surgery would cost $30,000). I cannot run on the treadmill, I don't have the strength in my knee yet for that. What are some good exercises I can do to help strengthen it and still burn calories?

I had ACL reconstruction 2 years ago. Mine was 80% severed.
Some of the things I did in physical therapy after were to SLOWLY do leg raises on a band machine, start with absolutely no weights at all!!! Be very careful to do that or you could injure your knee more. Gradually go up in increments of 5-10 pounds. Do the same thing with resistance, where you pull down with your leg instead of lifting it. Absolutely no weight to start with. If they have bands, put some around both legs just above your knee. Kinda step into the band and have it wrapped around your legs. Stand against a wall and do side steps. I did this down the hall and back up the hall. Don't bend your knee, just step as wide as you can sideways. Be sure to ice after any exercises with your knee.
With a torn ACL, you want to build up the muscles in your leg so that they can resist falls/trips, etc, rather than rely on your ACL to do it.

What do I need to know about tanning?
I'm 15 and I'm going tanning in a tanning bed for the first time and I had some questions. Yes, I know tanning is bad but I would definitely not go that often. It would be great if someone could answer all of them for me.
-What do I need to wear in the tanning beds?
-How much does it cost? (I don't want a membership)
-Do I need to wear something over my eyes?
-Do I need to wear suntan lotion when I get in?
-Do I need a parent to sign something for me to go in?
-How long can I wait until I can shower
-How long should I be in there for? (Since this is my first time and I have very white skin, I do not know how long a normal time is)
-What should clean tanning salons look like?
-Are there any open tanning beds?
-Do I need to go back in a few days or so to tan again?
I feel dumb asking a lot of questions, but it would be great if I could get them answered. Also if anyone has any tips on tanning beds, that would be helpful too
-well i got naked! i don't like tan lines but some people just tan in their underwear so either is good as long as the beds are clean! (some places require you to clean the bed before and after you get in so make sure you always clean it before esp. if you go in naked)
- most places sell packages like unlimited tanning for a month, that usually cost 40$. (that is what i get so i don't know any other prices.) but normally they very on the tanning salon.
-YES, most likely they will give you little eye goggles to wear but if they don't spend the few dollars and get a pair. (i usually don't wear them the whole time i am in the bed because of tan lines but i do wear them for the most part)
-no you don't but you tan way better and have less chance of burning if you get indoor tanning lotion. outdoor tanning lotion won't work. (they sell cheap good ones at walmart! that is where mine is from cause normally at the salons they are expensive)
-some places you do if you are under 18 but not all places are like that. so the best bet is go the first time with your mom and she should only have to be there the first time.
-you should wait at least four hours.
-when i go when i am pale i got in for ten minutes then each time i go up a few more minutes until i get to 20 minutes. but everyone is different if you ask at the salon how long you should go in for they will be able to suggest a good time.
-all the tanning salons i have went to have tanning bed cleaner in your room for you to clean the bed, that is a good sign because you get to clean your own bed so you know it is clean. and if they offer the little goggles they should be in a box in cleaning liquid, if not i would just go buy your own. but most tanning salons are very well kept.
-not sure what you mean by open? do you mean ones that don't close down on you? if so then yes! they have tanning beds that you can stand up in.
-yes. one time tanning won't do much for you. i usually go tanning for prom or weddings and i go for a month but i go every other day and i get pretty tan. i wouldn't go everyday though.
