Open Sign Light How do I add an LED Light to a class project?
I need to figure out how to light up an LED light (red color). I plan to install it on a flat surface inside a sign to light it up from within. This means I can't rely on a car, flashlight, or lamp socket to supply the power. The LED needs to independently operate off of either a battery or wall outlet.
First, what supplies do I need? I know I'll need an LED light, but what about the things required to light it? It must be small, but bright. I'm open to exploring all options. Second, what power source do I need or would be best?: Wall outlet, battery?...
I think my best option is to simply find a small device with a pre-installed light and slap a battery in it, but I don't know if such a thing exists that's small.
You'll need a power source and a way to switch the power on at the very least. Check te requirements of the LED itself - you may be able to use a 9V battery. As for a switch (if you need one), go to Radio Shack - they have all sorts of sliding, flip, and push button switches that may work for you.
