how do u unlock a grandfather clock?!?
I bought a clock from a clearence lot at a furniture store. You have to buy it as is, no returns. When I brought it home, all the inside parts of the clock are in a box on the inside of the glass.
PROBLEM...the clock came with no key. It is locked. how do i open this grandfather clock?!?!? I have tried to pick it, tried a couple skeleton keys and nothing has worked.
PROBLEM 2...I tried calling like, 10 locksmiths to come and unlock it but they don't service it and had no suggestions.

The clock probably takes a key similar to a cabinet key. That is to say a barrel key with a prong on one side that is notched in some way maybe one two or three notches. Go to a hardware store and tell them you need a barrel type cabinet key. They will know what you mean. They usually stock them and there are about 10 or 12 different ones. Since you don't have any idea what the old key looked like you may have to take all of them and try them and then bring the ones back that don't work. If you find one that works, get a spare and tape it to the back of the clock.
