Do you have to have the official Xbox 360 adapter for Xbox Live?
O.k. so last weekend I bought a $40 router. But I heard that you need an adapter. So is it true? and If it is do I have to use the official one?
if want to run it wirelessly without bridging a connection with your computer than yes you need, there is no work around (without modding).
if your close enough to your router you can just use an ethernet cable.
if your close enough to your computer that has a wireless connecton you can bridge the connection

Do I have to use an official microsoft Xbox 360 wireless adapter to get the xbox wireless internet?
I've been looking round and the official ones are pretty hefty in price and I was wondering if I could just use a normal wireless adapter, I have one I used to use on my computer could I use it? Thanks
No, unfortunately the 360 is fairly specific with the wireless adaptors it uses. Your options are buying Microsofts (which I've seen at a best price £35 in christmas sales), using wires, or you can connect it to a laptop or nearby PC if thats practical.
