Neon Sign Parrot
I bought a blood parrot cichlid and I've come to find out...?
...they are hybrids, produce a lot of waste, and require more than a 29 gallon tank.
The store sign said they would work in a 29 gallon tank. My guy is so beautiful I'd hate to return him, but I don't want to support hybrid fish, nor do I want all these huge turds the cichlid leaves on the gravel. Do you think my 2 inch parrot will be happy in a 29 gallon? (There are a handful of small tropical fish, ie neon tetras, ballon mollies)
What should I do?
they are hybrids...umm 29 gallon for 1 blood parrot should be ok with a few tropicals...but you ll have to see..if he starts to outgrow his tank..then you will have to upgrade...cos they do grow sometimes even 8 inches...keep an eye on ammonia levels..you might have to keep up with water changes...you could use something called as ceramic rings and place it in the filter...those house extra useful bacteria...which will help keep up with ammonia..you can find ceramic rings on Dr. Foster and Smith's website..don't return..keep an eye and be ready to upgrade in future..I think you should be fine for a year...but they do need bigger homes most of the times..:)
