Neon Sign $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Neon signs are luminoustube signs that contain neon or other inert gases at a low pressure. Applying a high voltage (usually a few thousand volts) makes the gas glow brightly. They are produced by the craft of bending glass tubing into shapes. A worker skilled in this craft is known as a glass bender, neon or tube bender. Neon sign tubes are distinguished from neon lamp bulbs by their length, customized shapes, higher operating voltages, and range of colors. The lightemitting tubes form colored lines with which a text can be written or a picture drawn, including various decorations, especially in advertising and commercial signage. By programming sequences of switching parts on and off, there are many possibilities for dynamic light patterns that form animated images. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. How to install HID kits
In this age of do it yourself kits, replacing your stock halogen lamps with HID lamps is not rocket science. Although it is sometimes better to leave it to the professionals, it is also not that hard if you still remember your basic electronics class. That is unless, of course, you spent more time eyeing that chick at front row rather than concentrate on the professor way back in high school. This is how to install HID kits. But first here are a few reminders before you start donning the overalls.
-
Park your car in a space wide enough to give you all the elbow room you need. Your movements should be unhampered.
-
Place all your tools in a tool box for ease in reaching out for that all- important tool if you happen to be lying on your back underneath the engine or engrossed with you head under the hood. You do not want to spend all your time walking in and out of the house just for the right screwdriver.
-
Keep the workplace clean. And especially, you don't want to smudge the inside glass of your headlights with greasy finger prints. It would definitely show. So be careful. And keep the cleaning hand towel handy.
Now, on with your overalls and I will show you how to install HID kits fast and easy. (No, you will not remove the whole engine block but it still pays to wear them overalls instead of that Lacoste shirt, if you know what I mean.) And it is best to ask a few tips too on how to install HID kits from the store you got them. It does not hurt to ask enough.
What I may suggest is that you wait a full one or two hours after you last used your car before your start the installation so that the engine is not too hot. Open the hood to ventilate it to expedite its cooling down.
-
Also, to avoid sparks and short circuiting, make sure you remove the connection of the batteries. This will avoid any possible damage to the car's circuitry and any possible burnt fingers.
-
Look for the dust cover at the back part of the headlamp assembly. Take it out by turning it counter clock wise. When you have removed the old halogen bulb, replace it with the HID kit always making sure that you do not touch any glass part of the bulb with bare hands. The human body has enough electrical charge that can damage the extra sensitive nature of HID lamps.
-
The queer thing in how to install HID kits is that there is a ballast component. It may sound like you are installing a store neon sign or a fluorescent bulb on your front porch. Actually, they are of the same family of lamp technology. The ballast should be affixed securely in the area near to the bulb where the connection would not pose a problem. There should not be any probability of dangling ballasts bouncing up and down.
Before you finally connect back the battery, be sure to double check all the wiring configurations. This is how to install HID kits easily and safely. Happy driving!
