whats the best settings on a digtal camer to take night photos such as streat lights, neon signs and buildings
i just got new digital camera, the Cannon S3is. i'm looking to take night shots of lights, neon signs and buildings. i'm don't know much about ISO's and shutter speed. any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated.
First and foremost, you need to mount the camera on a tripod.
Choose the lowest ISO available.
Turn off the Image Stabilization because you dont need it.
Theres a number of ways you can do it....Choose AV...select an aperture of between 2.8-5.6 approx
The camera will do the rest.
Choose TV...select a long shutter speed of 1,2,3...up to 15 seconds...the camera will work out the aperture.
I, myself prefer to use M...and choose all my own settings.
Don't forget to put the camera on a timer...say 2 seconds or longer...so when you press the shutter, you don't create any movement.
Best way is to experiment with various settings and even read some books on photography so you can understand about exposure etc....or even look on the net....
