Wiring a Neon Indicator Light, Series or Parallel?
Hi, I am rigging up a small 250w electric heater and want to put a neon indicator light in so I know it is working and not burnt out or anything, as it is hidden from view. I would normally put a 230v indicator light in parallel but in this case if the heater element stops working and/or the circuit is broken, the indicator light will still be glowing as it is connected before the heater circuit. I want it so if the heater circuit breaks the light goes out, is it ok to connect in series or will it stop the heater element working properly?
Thanks very much, I thought something like that would be the case, its a pity it won't allow me to see if the heater element is still working or not as it is experimental!
It won't work in series.
A neon indicator lamp (and its series resistor) are wired in parallel with the appliance and indicate that the power is on. Once lit, it has an extremely high resistance and the current flowing through it is tiny. If you wire it in series with the heater, the current flowing through both will be very small and nearly all of the voltage drop will be across the neon. The neon will probably still light (depending on the size of the heater) but the heater won't get hot.

How To Wire Neon Lighting From My Stereo?
I wanna wire my neon lights from My Car Stereo To A Toggle Swith (20 Amps) Then To The Neon. How to Do this. What do i need to do this?
well you could just wire it to the toggle positive to the lights then ground to any ground or if you want them to turn on when you turn your stereo on you could hook the power up to the positive on your amp that way when you turn you stereo on it turns your amp on which turns your lights on. there is many ways it can be done. your question is very vague if you want more info contact me on my email I can wire anything . valeski2@gmail.com
