Neon Light Output
i was wondering if a computer is 12 volts or 24 volts output? ?
i know computers are 24volts, but i have a 12 volt neon light i wana put in it, are they 12volt output or no?
Maybe I'm a little confused here.
A USB port only provides 5 volts.
According to the IEEE specs, a parallel port doens't provide any voltage.
A serial port also doesn't provide any voltage.
So, no, a computer doesn't provide either 12 or 24 volts out.
The computer power supply provides a +12 volts, -12 volts, and + 5 volts internally to the computer but not externally to any connectors. It doesn't provide 24 volts. If you have a voltmeter, carefully measure the voltage at the various connectors of the power supply to find the +12 volts.
However, a neon light normally takes at least 65 VDC to ionize the neon gas and light up. It won't work with either 12 or 24 volts unless it includes an power inverter to increase the voltage. Are you sure you don't mean a 12 LED light?
