Neon Light Letters
Do U know how to work on Car's body?
Ok here is the deal I have this bumper im pretty sure is plastic and is for a honda civic I got it a body kit but i cant really install a rear bumper because of my house driveway it will destroy it anyways so since it looks so simple from behind I would like to give that ugly simple bumper a little touch of seduction any ways so i was thinkin to do like a lil design or letters on the back but as if they were holes then i would put a grill behind it and a neon light to make it stand up when is dark and im wondering how to do that i dont know if is possible because is plastic and not fiberglass and also what tools to use is kind of wird thats why i have this drawing here is the link to it http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n33/chihuas_13/vte.jpg
I'd put this in a "mod" category rather than a "body work" one. This being said, I'm going to caveat the information provided with the following statement: If you cut into your bumper it will lose structural integrity. Because of that it will not protect you as effectively in the case of a rear end collision.
Design whatever you want to appear on the rear bumper. Trace it out on the bumper and use a dremel tool or a rotozip to cut out the design. You'll want to have some touch up paint that matches the car paint to touch up the interior edges (a spray can will be better than a stick). You now have your cutout.
Were I doing it, I'd mount/glue in a piece of plexiglass in the bumper to mount the lighting. Figure out what lighting you want to use and attach/screw/glue it to the plexiglass.
Now you need to figure out wiring. Do you want it integrated into the headlights, or as a separate independent circuit? If it's the former you can get a wiring snap on fixture to draw power from your rear running lights and route it to the lighting.
If you want it on it's own separate circuit (better idea) then you need to run electric from the battery through a switch stashed in the cabin of the car, and out to the rear lighting. The switchwillallow you to control turning it on and off. Since it's a separate circuit any electrical errors made will be more easily corrected.
