Neon Light Gases
How are neon lights and gas vapor tubes similar to one another? (relating to Spctrum analysis)?
If I remember my science, neon lights are a subset of gas vapor tubes. Many gases can be used in gas vapor tubes to produce different colors (wavelengths) of lights. Argon gives off a yellow-amber color (think beer sign) while neon glows red. In a spectrum analysis, each of these gases would generate a pretty specific wavelength.
I know this part is a guess, but isn't argon around 5600 angstroms? College was a long time ago.
EDIT: Ok, did a little research, I may not have the gases and wavelengths all straight here, but the concept is solid: that different gases glow at different wavelengths, producing different colors (like mercury streetlights are blue and sodium are yellow) and while we generally talk about Las Vegas being full of 'neon lights' they actually use many different gases to produce all those colors.

Light Propagation in Ultracold Atomic Gases $116.3 Laser and atomic gases allow to study radiationmatter interaction at its fundamental level. After the development of laser sources, atomic gases have been successfully used to study nonlinear processes. Later on, light has been demonstrated as a very powerful tool not only to study atoms but also to manipulate them. The achievement of ultracold gases (1997 and 2001 Nobel prizes) is the most remarkable among many. Starting from an optical point of view, we theoretically investigate the features of ultracold atomic gases as an extremely dispersive and tunable medium. We first discuss the light scattering from an atomic crystal bound by light (Mott insulator) in order to gain information on the atomic structure. Then we develop a general framework for the coherent timedependent processing of a light pulse propagating in a spatially inhomogeneous system made of atomic clouds. Applications of this formalism to wavelength conversion and reshaping of the pulse are discussed. Image Sensor for Detection of Gases $95.59 This work shows the results of silicon MOS device as a sensor of chemical image, for the detection and classification of hydrogen and ammonia gases, through the Scanning Light Pulse Technique (SLPT). The gate of the device was built from an AuPd bimetallic electrode, with nanometric thickness. It was proposed an X Y automatic position system for scanning the light pulsed beam, based on the PID control and on the Labview software. The data acquisition process was also automated via virtual instrumentation defined by the Labview software. The MOS device showed maximum sensitivity for hydrogen and ammonia gases when the width of the depletion layer has maximum value. The chemical images obtained from the MOS sensor response, in SLPT operation mode for hydrogen and ammonia environments, respectively, showed characteristic patterns to each kind of gas, independent of the concentration used, allowing the complete classification of these gases. Las Vegas and the Sun are having a common factor. This is nothing but an obvious profusion of neon. A new study put forward that neon is the fifth-most-common element in the outer space. It is to the extent that three times more rich in the Sun than astrophysicists had thinking before.

On average, they found, the proportion of neon to oxygen in every star is three times what is calculated for the Sun. If the Sun is anything like its neighbors--and astrophysicists think it is--it should have triple the neon previously thought.
Astrophysicists can maintain their hypothesis about how the Sun works. And the casinos in Las Vegas can rest guaranteed that there is an adequate amount of neon to power the glow of their signs for an indefinite period.

Answer:True! No gravity = no wind! Gravity is needed for light gases in the stomach to rise to the surface and cause belching!
