Neon Light Desk
Re-doing my room- teen?
My room has been white since we moved in to our new house and im finally ready to do someting with it. My furniture is mostly wood, i have a set (bed, dresser,side tables) that is kindof a lighter stain and a modern black desk (i was suprised, but they actually dont clash horribly). I originally wanted to go with an "island" theme and paint my room a nice brown. A natural theme is still apealing but i dont want to have to stick to a themed decor, so ive decided to paint one main wall green (a sort of lime-ish bright green (not neon at all!)) and the other walls a dark brown. Decor wise i will be doing a collage-type project with mirrors on the wall area by my closet and hanging some of my paintings. Does anyone have any advice, comments, ideas, objections, help with visualizing the color, etc? Any help is welcome...thanks so much!
Sounds great, the only thing I wonder is if the balance will be off, between the one wall so bright and the others so heavy and dark. I wouldn't recommend this in a living room, but because its your private space, I would suggest you carry the green colour up and onto your ceiling as well! Then you are not staring at a stark white ceiling, and the extra green balances all the dark brown. To add to the natural theme, you could add a ceiling fan that has blades that are made out of natural rattan , palm-leaf type material. To offset the dark brown walls, you could hang fabric curtains on dark wood rods, with a natural floral or botanical pattern with both the greens and browns and creams. If the closet is on one of your dark brown walls, I would also paint it dark brown so that it blends in and does not take the focus away from your mirror collage project. Have fun and good luck !!
(AND, if your parents try to talk you out of a coloured ceiling, just promise them you'll paint it back to white before you move out when you're 30! HA HA!)
