not very good music lessons at school?

my school is a arts school (specialises in music, art and drama) yet they no longer do GSCE music and in our lessons they dont even teach students to read music, they just tell them letters. i can already play piano, flute and guitar so it isnt really an issue for me, but i think the school is a let down based on this and what the students are missing out. whats your opinion?

personally, if you want to learn more, you should speak to the board of governers at your school.
Or if you want to learn gcse music, maybe you should have private tuition and enter a gcse exam that way.
However, you can do you gcse for music at a college.

Hope this helped :)

How would I improve music lessons at my school (as a student in year 9)?

And I want to get into a performing arts college (In music).
I know what you're thinking if the school I am at doesn't teach music lessons how do i get good at it.
But my answer is that I went to a school before were they had A LOT of instruments and one of the ones i played was guitar and keyboard but halfway through my first secondary school year there (year 7) I left...
And now I go to this school that hardly has any instruments. In fact none at all.
I do music in my spare time and that's about it do you think it would be enough to get into Brit school?

Here is an organization that helps in California schools. Do a search in your state for similar programs. You will probably need a lobby effort to get support from your local school board. You may have to start a music club and use it as an after school activity. Contact any music organizations in your area for help. A lot of areas have instrument drives to get musical instruments out of people's attics and into the hands of kids. Your initial goal is to not cost the school any money. Music programs are usually the first programs to face the budget axe. Best wishes.
