Do any Martini drinkers detect an anti-Vermouth sentiment in America?
The original recipe being one part Vermouth to three of gin; whereas over the years the Vermouth part has shrunk gradually and has now got to the point where many bar tenders are asked to just spray a hint of Vermouth on the inside of the glass. I don't get it, if Vermouth is not liked why not just have a gin? Vermouth is a high quality drink in its own right so this puzzles me.
If people just ordered straight gin (or vodka, for that matter) they might worry that people would consider them a lush, so instead they order straight gin (or vodka) but still insist on calling it a martini for appearance's sake.
The appreciation of a good mixed drink in the US has all but disappeared, it seems. Instead we just want fruit flavored drinks that get us smashed faster.

whats a great drink to order while visiting a martini bar?
I'm not a big martini drinker, it's not that I don't like them but I've never tried them, something on the sweeter side maybe?
Start with a chocolate Martini and then move to Lemon martini and then for a apple martini and after take a cosmo and ended with the Grey Goose Vodka martini. Cheers and good times!!
