My mother says my gown I picked out is too formal for the setting?
We are planning on an outdoor wedding at a lodge in Gatlinburg, TN. It has a large garden and terrace, a large front porch, and the interior of the lodge is tastefully decorated (not that log cabin decor look--think wingback chairs and hardwood floors).
The dress I found yesterday was absolutely gorgeous. I can't find a pic online, otherwise I would post it. But it's made of an ivory satin with a layer of champane lace and a short train. It is very comfortable and romantic looking. It doesn't "poof" at all.
What do you think? Would it be too formal?
Gillan--your dress is somewhat similar to mine! A few differences--mine does not have the sash, the lace is slightly more predominant, and the top of the dress has a few pieces of lace that sit higher than the satin....otherwise it's very very similar!
Also this is my First and only wedding.
I think that if you think it will look good, then it will!
I am having a lakeside wedding and my dress has no poof and a small train as well and I think my dress is perfect. My reception venue is all tastefully done in hardwoods as well.
