What player positions in the NFL draft are most likely to be successful?
QB, linemen, running back? What the the probabilities that, e.g., a running back is a safer pick than a QB?
Does anyone have the percentages of busts by positions?
Linemen are the easiest of the 3 you chose, because they are interchangeable. If you are a lineman, you are basically trying out for 5 positions, as opposed to 1.
As for what is safer between RB and QB, RB is safer. It doesn't require as much thinking as QB does. You don't have to put in as much time learning the offense or adjustments like a QB does. So your chances of drafting atleast a decent RB is higher. However the QB is more of an asset, and you're better off with a good QB than with a good RB.

Developing 2 Gap Lineman for the 3-4 Defense (DVD) $39.99 With Mike Fanoga,University of Wyoming Outside Linebackers Coach;former New Mexico State University Defensive Line CoachCoach Fanoga's passion for football begins in the trenches - the defensive line. Fanoga begins with lining up and stance for the D linemen. The ends are backed off the ball about 16 inches and use inside hand. The nose can crowd the ball or back off and has the green light. Stance starts with a wide base, wider than the shoulders and a flat back. The ends take care of the A, B, and the C gap. The nose is responsible for the two A gaps. Fanoga likes the uniqueness of this defense and teaches players on a sweep to read and play right down the line of scrimmage. The technique is lateral steps down the line, which he calls "pound his feet." Every thing the offense does, the defense reacts to it. The nose is in charge of cut backs in this scheme. In the two-gap defense, players are taught the zone, scoop, base, down and double team blocks. Game footage drives home the technique that Fanoga covers on the white board. You sound like a beast but man you might as well stay where your at. No offense but that is a slow time. Stay with the line they get paid more in the NFL. You didnt give your height by the way. If you really want to be in the back field be a fullback you can catch passes knock people on there a$$'s and you can run the ball. If your dream is to be a RB get a speed coach. And work on footwork even though lineman have solid footwork you'll need great footwork to be a back.Any div. 1 colleges come knocking yet?

Running will help to lose weight, but if you're son wants to develope the overall athleticism it takes to be a running back he needs to lift weights, do core excersizes, and should focus on runninng workouts that emphasize short bursts of speed (sprint 40-50 yds, rest for 20 seconds, sprint for 40-50 yds, rest for 20 seconds)
Certain lifts that are most helpful include squat, hang clean, and bench…
most important though is developing a strong core (stomach/lower back area) this makes you stronger and faster…
I'm not sure how old your son is…or what kind of wieght room/strength advising you have at your disposal, but these are definately options to consider
