Lighted Clock Sign
2000 Chevy Blazer dash panel & clock electrical problems, keeps dimming out, anyone know or had similar issues
My early model 2000 blazer has external temprature and direction panel along with clock and lights behind gages. The lights have been slightly flickering for a while but now it has become more pronounced and nearly goes completely black. I thought at first it was something to do with stereo wires but it seems to be more affected in damp tempratures, happened coming out of car wash yesterday. I asked the mechanic at shop all they would say it bring it in. I'd like to know if this is an issue someone else has had and/ or if anyone serriously knows what might be causing it. There are no other signs of issues, well maintained vehicle, new alternator & battery. No real signs of power draw when it occurs. I'd like to get ahold of the wiring spec's for my blazer too. Help!! Anyone knowledgable on this sorta thing. Also NEED a more affordable Mechanic in Mississauga Ontario area that is trust worthy, for repairs I can't do myself.
It sounds like the rheostat for the dash lights. It is the rotary switch near the headlight switch that controls how bright, or dim, the dash lights are. Next time it happens, roll the switch from one end to the other and see if it cures the flickering. If it does, replace the dash light rheostat.
