Lighted Cash Register
How come it's the small things that seem to bother us so much?
For example: The sales rep who empties his cold coffee and leaves the splatters all over the sink. The manager who uses the last drop of lotion and doesn’t refill the container. The analyst who walks away from the printer, leaving the red light flashing “paper jam.” The boss who walks into the reserved conference room in the middle of a meeting and bumps everybody out for an “urgent” strategic planning meeting. The person who cuts in line at the cafeteria cash register.
Because they are so inconvenient for us and they happen all the time.

Is it legal to install an alarm system without informing the landlords on a commercial lease?
I own a business and renting my building from someone else. The landlords have been entering the building after hours without my knowledge, there is evidence that they have been there, and been on my computer, in or near my cash register, behind the counter, they have left lights on, or turned them all off, and on a few occasions they have left the rear door wide open when they left. I had all the locks changed because they said it was not them entering the building. I came to work this morning and some of the lights were left on. I am wondering if it is legal to install an alarm system without informing them, that way if it IS them entering the building without my knowledge, the cops are called. DO I have to inform them one is being installed? If so, do I have to give them the code? None of this is in my lease.
It would be recommended to tell them. As you mentioned, you don't have to tell them the code. They do not have a right to enter your building if there is not an emergency.
