Light Leds What is it in LEDs that make them last longer than other light bulbs?
there is no filament to burn out, its all "solid state" (haven't heard that term used in a while). Not to mention, the current is in the milliamps (maybe just 2 or 3, depending on the LED, and what its used for), compared to about 800 milliamps for a 100 watt bulb.

I am looking for a sensor that will light more LEDs as you put more weight on the sensor. Does this exist?
I am wanting to build something and the key part of my project is to find and use a weight-sensitive sensor that will light up LEDs as you put more weight on the sensor. I would say, maybe one pound per light. I was also looking for a sensor that will be compatible with a 12 volt battery or maybe less, if possible. If anyone can help me, I will appreciate it more than you know. Thank you!
im not sure if there is such a device, but you could get a variable rezistor and connect it to asprig scale. I think that would work. you could put iton a spring scale like the ones that you see in the grocery store. I think that would work. or you could put some buttionson ot sonilar to the ones on a calculator and rig it up so as the scale slides down, it would pushthe buttons and light the leds. but it depends on the type of scale and what youare mesuriing.

another thing that you could do is instead of using a spring scale, you could use one of those ones with a needle on it. you could put a magnet on the end of the needle and then you cn put another series of magnets and you can rig it up so that whenever the magnetpulls onto the other one it will trigger a switch. Im not sure if that woldwork(because im thinking this up as im typing) but there is a chance. I hope this will hep you. good luck with your project. =-)
