Large Vintage Green
Which should I use for my decorating scheme?
I am an 18 year old girl (19 in about a month and a half) who just came home from her freshman year at college. My room was painted when I was about thirteen. My room is bright blue with a large lime green stripe and two small white stripes. It feels like a room for a much younger girl. My dad said I could paint it, but I will have to do it since painting my room was a lot of work. It's just not me anymore.
I have a couple of themes I want to explore: vintage, Rome/Italy, and Parisian. I would appreciate if anyone could give me ideas on how to do any or all of these themes, such as wall, ceiling, and trim paint color, bedding, decorations, etc.
FYI: I am a photography major. For decorations I would love to use my own photography work. I would like ideas on what to photograph that would go with the theme. No posters.
Maybe a beige with lots of rich accent colors throughout, including your bedspread. I love when a window treatment is busy when the rest of the room is a little more toned down...like this one:

You can really have fun picking out a fabric (or shopping for a window treatment) to really show off this theme you're going for. I just purchased some fabric from calicocorners.com & notices they had a WIDE range (especially as far as vintage goes). If you have room, a pretty chair in the corner can also add to the room. You can get one anywhere...from Craiglist to the thrift store & it's basically a 1 day project to do like this person did:

Again, using a fun fabric showing off your style. As far as pics, my sis just went around our town taking random pics & they came out beautiful. She put them in (I'm guessing) four 8x8 black frames and spaced them evenly in a row over her bed.

What kind of shirtdress should I wear to a friend's 17th birthday?
Alright, so I'm going to my friend's 17th birthday party in a month. I normally wear a formal shirtdress over dark-wash skinny jeans/dress pants to these kinds of things, but I only have one shirtdress, which I wore to a Sweet Sixteen and I can't wear the same thing because the same people will be at both parties and it hasn't been long enough for me to wear it again.
I'm utter crud at shopping, so if any of you have any links to fairly formal shirtdresses that are $40 or less, that would be awesome!
Colors I like are:
Green (all shades except light/bright green)
Dark Red (bright red is okay if it's not the main color)
Dark Blue
Black
White
Grey (all shades)
Oh! Also, I'm pretty cool with any kind of design/pattern, though I am extremely partial to "modernized vintage".
Size = Large
