Can I take Zippo Style lighters in my checked baggage on my flight from Hong Kong to New Zealand?
I have 5 Zippo Style lighters that I want to take back to NZ with me. 4 of them don't light so I don't think they have any fluid in them.
I'm pretty sure that I will be but I just want to make sure.
I have done it before without any problem. As long as you don't have a fluid refill bottle in there as well you're O.K.

Hong Kong Disneyland $81.25 Hong Kong Disneyland is the first theme park inside the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and is owned and managed by the Hong Kong International Theme Parks, an incorporated company jointly owned by The Walt Disney Company and the Government of Hong Kong. The fifth Disneyland style park, the park is located on reclaimed land in Pennys Bay, Lantau Island. After years of negotiations and construction, the park opened to visitors on September 12, 2005, considered an auspicious date according to Chinese almanacs for the opening of a new business. Disney attempted to avoid problems of cultural backlash by attempting to incorporate Chinese culture, customs, and traditions when designing and building the resort, including adherence to the rules of Feng Shui. The park consists of four themed lands similar to other Disneyland parks: Main Street, U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland. There is as yet no Frontierland, although it may be included in future expansion projects. The theme parks cast members use English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Mandarin dialects, to communicate verbally. Hong Kong Action Cinema $92.4 Hong Kong action cinema is the principal source of the Hong Kong film industrys global fame. It combines elements from the action film, as codified by Hollywood, with Chinese storytelling and aesthetic traditions, to create a culturally distinctive form that nevertheless has a wide transcultural appeal. In recent years, the flow has reversed somewhat, with American and European action films being heavily influenced by Hong Kong genre conventions. The first Hong Kong action films favoured the wuxia style, emphasizing mysticism and swordplay, but this trend was politically suppressed in the 1930s and replaced by styles in which films depicted more downtoearth unarmed kung fu, often featuring folk hero Wong Fei Hung. Postwar cultural upheavals led to a second wave of wuxia films with highly acrobatic violence, followed by the emergence of the grittier kung fu films for which the Shaw Brothers studio became best known. The 1970s saw the rise and sudden death of international superstar Bruce Lee. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 148 Publication Date: 2010/07/25 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.34 inches |

Choosing Wedding Invitations In Hong Kong - A Dilemma
In Hong Kong, couples will think that traditional wedding cards are something old fashioned, in red color with golden hot stamping. Besides, all these traditional invitation cards are all provided by a few printing companies and all of them look alike. They would like to make their wedding as unique as possible and as a result they will have a perception that it will not be a good idea to choose wedding invitations with traditional designs.
Virtually, the alternative choice for the traditional invitation cards is invitations with what people in Hong Kong called western style (in fact I will define that as Hong Kong style). They are usually white in color, which is a great contrast to the traditional red color. However, white color in China usually means death. As a result, the parents of the couples may not like this kind of wedding invitations since these cards touch the taboos of Chinese people.
In fact, the choice of wedding invitation can result in disagreement between the couple and the parents. There was a couple who wanted to order the western style wedding invitation. And as a consequence they ordered them from a print shop and after they got everything printed, they found that their parents did not like the invitation designs very much.
The couple was really in a dilemma since they did not even think about the problem of white color wedding invitations. And finally they had to order everything again. This time what they order is the red color design in order to satisfy the requirements by their parents.
In fact couples are not reluctant to use the red color wedding invitation designs. They do not find the color an obstacle. The main problem is the design of these traditional cards. The cards are not properly designed. Indeed the companies which provide such wedding cards are print shops rather than designers. We have to admit that the interest of a designer and a print shop will be very different. The help of professional designers will be needed in order to make the traditional red color wedding cards more elegant.
As a graphic designer myself, I do not see anything wrong with the red color and golden hot stamping. They are only a choice of color and printing technique at the end of the day. In fact I am an advocate of traditional elements. However, we should manipulate the design elements wisely so that we do not copy what the print shop did in the past. For example, we can introduce Chinese paper cut patterns into the wedding invitations to make the invitation cards more elegant.
From my point of view, the print shops should work hand in hand with professional designers to redefine a new generation of Chinese wedding invitations. We should try to design the wedding invitations in a way that it is on one hand in line with the Chinese tradition and on the other hand has their own merits. Modern designs today can become traditional designs tomorrow. We need to constantly define and redefine our modern designs such that unique Chinese wedding invitations can be made.
