My lug nuts have to be cut off?
I just took my car to the same shop that put on my tires & rims. I needed the tires & rims taken off for the winter but they told me that they could not get the lug nuts off. They said that they tried three different lug-nut keys (including the original) and all three were stripped. They recommended me to another local shop to have them cut off! Whats gonna happen and will my rims still be able to be put back on later?
I would certainly find another shop. If it were my car, I certainly wouldn't want just anyone trying to cut the nuts off. If I were doing it in my garage, I would use penetrating oil, perhaps some heat & a proper wrench. Sometimes lug nuts seem to "lock on" & difficult to remove. The penetrating oil needs to loosen the nut from the rim.
