Juice Neon Light
1998 Dodge Neon Won't Start without a jump (most of the time)?
My 1998 dodge neon won't start without a jump, most of the time. Last night it required a jump, this morning it startd on its own.
I've got enough juice for the dome light to come on when I open the door. The light goes out when I try to start the car and won't relight until I open, close and then open the door again.
The solenoid clicks on a startup attempt only on a fresh starting attempt after the same door opening and closing procedure.
I don't think it's my battery. I'm guessing either alternator, starter or starter relay. Any idea what the replacement and labor costs would be on those?
Any other suggestions would be great as well!

A bit more informtion:
For the past six months or so the car has definitely labored and chugged to start. It has required me to hold the ignition key in the starting position for as long as 5 or 10 seconds. When it is excessively cold (-5˚F-10˚F) it chugs even more.
its probably the battery. if you get a jump, and it starts, and stays running with no check engine light that means the alternator is working, if it was bad, you would not be able to go far as your battery would be powering the whole car, which it can't do for long. it sounds to me as if either the battery is dead, or the cable going from the alternator to the battery is defective.
it would not be the starter because it works with a jump, the problem is that its not delivering enough current to the starter to kick the engine over, which means, dead battery
id get a new battery and probably a cable too (if its cheap, may as well) or go to autozone and have them check the battery and cables, to narrow it down.
also if you have a voltmeter, put it across the battery while someone cranks the car, if its under 12 volts, get a new one

1998 dodge neon has an oil leak and now it won't start?
my car has a steady oil leak, not alot but enough of a leak. i drove it to work last night and when i went to start it ,it would not start. it turns over but no noise and it doesn't start. there is juice to the battery i have headlights and dome lights but it doesn't start. what could be wrong with it. is there a sensor that would be stopping it from starting? please help me!
oil leak has nothing to do with it...either no gas or no spark..i vote spark..check coil
