Inline Skates What's the difference between the amount of wheels in inline skates?
I've seen skates with different amounts of wheels. What are the technical advantages and disadvantages from having 3, 4, and 5 wheels?
Three wheels are generally on really cheap or small skates. Skates for inline figure skating have three wheels for the ability to spin on them.
Three wheels means that more weight is on each wheel which makes them roll slower.
Four wheels are on most skates.
Racing or advanced fitness skates with smaller than 90mm wheels generally have 5 wheels. The weight on each wheel is less and the longer wheelbase helps with stability at higher speeds (but they don't turn as easily). Once racers started using 90, 100, or 110 mm wheels 5 wheel skates became too long and heavy to be practical.
Bont has made frames (as a joke) that can hold six 110 mm wheels on their racing skates.

Inline skating has enjoyed an increasing popularity in recent years. It is suitable as a sportive individual or group activity, affordable for the broad mass of the population, and easily carried out. Beginners in this discipline not only ask the question, which inline skate is best suitable for them, but they also want safe and quality skates. Up to date knowledge of the market and its products gets a company ahead of other competitors. The sport specific research of inline skating, concerning the motion sequence and the influence of different skates on the movement, is only at the beginning. A scientifically founded knowledge can help to avoid too much strain on the physical supporting apparatus due to poor quality construction features. The aim of this project was the direct comparison of different inline skate models under a controlled test environment. During a pretest phase two test protocols were developed in order to compare the eight skates for stability and energy expenditure. Can I change inline skates in to aggressive skates?
I've got a pair of inline skates and I'd like to change them into Aggressive skate, can I do this by taking off the other wheels and adding an aggressive frame and wheels to the boot or wont that work?
It is possible but will take some work and not be very good.
It will be easier if you have higher end skates where the frames mount with 2 screws to the sole.
The UFS frames for aggressive skates do not use the same mounting points or heights. You will need to drill new mounting holes and use some spacers to mount the frame to the boot.
Non-aggressive boots are made lighter than aggressive boots, you may destroy them if you do much aggressive skating on them.
