How often to add transmission fluid?
Follow up to my last question...
If the cause is only that I need to add more transmission fluid.... is it normal to need to add it this soon? It has 13,500 miles on it and was purchased (new) 8 months ago.
Or, should I have it checked out anyway?

You should not ever have to add transmission fluid unless the transmission is leaking. Have you noticed any small puddles under the front of your vehicle lately? A low fluid level can cause the condition you describe, but many other things can also cause the same problem (such as a weak pump, or a defective sensor). Get it to the dealer ASAP, and if possible, road test the vehicle with someone from the service department, attempting to duplicate the problem. I'm sure at the very least, the technician will inspect the fluid level (and for leaks if the level is low) and for any transmission fault codes. Hopefully, the problem will be an easily found one, and I wish you the best of luck. The only other thing I would like to add, is that the transmission should be serviced every 25,000 miles. A transmission flush (such as the BG Systems power flush) is all that's required. You don't need to replace the transmission filter at every service. JMHO. Good Luck!!

Royal Purple Automatic Transmission Fluid $15.95 The Royal Purple Max ATF is a synthetic, high performance, automatic transmission fluid. Its high film strength helps to dramatically reduce heat and wear. Automatic transmissions generate a great deal of heat and depend on the transmission fluid for cooling and protection. More than 90 percent of all automatic transmission failures are caused by overheating. A 20?F reduction in fluid temperature can double the life of the transmission (Source: Perma Industries Inc.). Max ATF significantly reduces heat to extend the life of your transmission. Max ATF is fully compatible and can be mixed with other automatic transmission fluids; however, for the best results drain or flush the current oil and then fill with Max ATF Recommended in vehicles requiring any of these automatic transmission fluids: Allison C-4, TES-295 Audi G-052-162, G-052-990, G-055-025 BMW 7045E, LA2634, LT71141 Chrysler ATF+, ATF+2, ATF+3, ATF+4 Chrysler Mopar AS68RC Ford FNR5, MERCON?, MERCON? What Are the 8 Principle Components Required For Good Type 2 Diabetic Nutrition?
Food is an essential component to our survival. We need food to provide us with our energy, as well as our bodies growth and repair systems. However food is much more than just a functionary energy source. It is also source of pleasure and enjoyment, and for a minority, it is also a crux for overcoming emotional issues, leading to over eating, and consequently obesity and type 2 diabetes.
However the role of food in our lives, aside from being a social, and enjoyable component of our lives, also plays an essential role in providing the nourishment our body's require day to day. This nourishment from our food comes in the form of protein (which is the building blocks of our muscles, skins and organs) fat, which is a store of energy in our bodies for potential future use, carbohydrates for energy and brain and cell functioning, as well as the many vitamins and mineral essential for our day to day wellbeing. We know that there are other beneficial items in our foods such as phytochemicals which have recently been shown to provide a health protective type action.
So what are the 8 principal components required for good type 2 diabetic nutrition?
1) Protein:
This is the building block of all biological tissue, enzymes, hormones, and the immune system. It's role as a fuel source is very limited.
2) Fat:
Fat is essential as a concentrated stored fuel source for the body in times when normal food ingested isn't enough. It helps transport fat soluble vitamins around the body. Fats are divided into polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats which are desirable, saturated fats which are a 'steer clear of' and trans fats which are a definite no-no, in fact trans fats have even been linked t cancer in some studies.
3) Carbohydrate:
This is the most important fuel source for the body, including he brain. Carbohyrate comes either as sugars, or starches. Sugars being found in fruits and honey, and is also widely used in the manufacturing process cakes, soft drink, lollies, etc
4) Vitamins:
These help the body to produce fuel from the available fat, protein and carbohydrate
5) Minerals:
These form a major part of our bones, teeth and bodily fluids. They play a major part in many body functions, for example heart beat, fluid balance, and controlling muscle contraction.
6) Fiber:
Also known as roughage it helps to keep out digestive system up to par, by enabling our bowels to function regularly and efficiently. Also helps the stomach to feel full for longer, delaying the eventual onset of hunger pangs.
7) Water: Given that approximately 70% of your body is made up of water, it make sense that you need to drink lots of fluids to replace whatever is lost through urine, faeces, sweat, and the lungs
Phytochemicals:
A high plant based food diet has been shown to lower the incidences of heart health issues, cancers, and diabetes. Phytochemicals in order to have their positive effect need to be consumed as part of the whole food, rather than taken as an extracted supplement
So, that's the 8 key components to design your own ideal healthy eating diet, and you just so happen to be type 2diabetic, then hey presto, you're diabetic diet is still going to be made up of similar components.
